A Note on How to Read This
We are a repair company, so our view is skewed by definition: we see appliances when they fail, not when they work. What that does give us is a reliable sense of which parts fail, how available they are, and how much labor a given brand costs to service. That is different from a reliability ranking and more useful when you are deciding what to buy.
Mainstream Brands
Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana
Parts are widely available and inexpensive, and the designs are straightforward to service. That makes them cheap to keep running well past the point where other brands become uneconomical. Whirlpool repair and Maytag repair are among our most common calls simply because there are so many of them in Northern Virginia homes.
GE and GE Profile
Similar story on parts availability. Control boards are the most common failure we see on the Profile line. GE repair is straightforward in most cases.
Samsung and LG
Feature-heavy and generally well built, but they use proprietary diagnostics and error code systems, and some parts take longer to source. Smart refrigerator faults need the right tools to read properly. We handle Samsung repair and LG repair including the smart diagnostics many local companies are not equipped for.
Premium and Built-In Brands
Sub-Zero and Wolf
Built to be serviced for twenty years or more, which changes the repair-or-replace calculation entirely. Parts cost more but the units justify repair far longer than mainstream brands. Sub-Zero repair and Wolf repair come up frequently in Dominion Valley, River Creek and Lansdowne.
Thermador, Viking and Dacor
Proprietary spark modules and control boards that most general appliance companies will not touch. We are equipped for them. See Thermador, Viking.
Miele and Bosch
Excellent dishwashers, and the panel-ready models put real strain on door hinges and springs because of the added cabinet weight. That is the repair we do most on them. See Miele repair and Bosch repair.
Speed Queen
Commercial-grade laundry in a residential cabinet. We touch these least of any brand we service. If longevity is the priority over features, this is the one. Speed Queen repair.
What Actually Predicts Failure
Brand matters less than three other things: whether the appliance was installed correctly, whether it gets basic maintenance, and how hard the local water is. A well-maintained mid-range washer will outlast a neglected premium one, every time.
Our appliance lifespan guide covers the maintenance that makes the biggest difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which appliance brand is most reliable?
For laundry specifically, Speed Queen is the one we are called out to least. For refrigeration, Sub-Zero is built to be serviced far longer than mainstream brands. For value, Whirlpool and Maytag are cheap to keep running because parts are inexpensive and available.
Are luxury appliances more expensive to repair?
Parts cost more, yes. But they are designed to be repaired rather than replaced, so the total cost of ownership over fifteen or twenty years often works out better than replacing a mainstream unit twice.
Do you service all brands?
Yes, all major brands. See the full brand list, including luxury brands many companies decline.
